The Duchess of Sussex has attempted to contact her estranged father, Thomas Markle, who is reported to be seriously ill in hospital in the Philippines.
A spokesman for Meghan stated, 'I can confirm she has reached out to her father.'
Reports indicate that Mr. Markle underwent leg amputation during a recent surgery. Although Meghan attempted to connect with him earlier today, it is not clear whether their conversation was successful.
The relationship between Meghan and her father deteriorated before her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, with intense media scrutiny focused on the Markle family during that time.
Thomas Markle was found to have collaborated with photographers for paid images leading up to the wedding, which caused significant fallout, resulting in his absence from the ceremony citing health issues. Instead, King Charles III took Meghan down the aisle.
Since the wedding, it is unclear whether a proper relationship was ever reignited between Meghan and Thomas, as he has not met his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Additionally, Mr. Markle has been vocal in his criticisms of Meghan's and Harry's decision to distance themselves from royal duties and their critiques of the royal family, suggesting they are 'lost souls' seeking something elusive.
