Attorneys for Sean Diddy Combs have notified a US federal court of their plans to appeal the rap mogul's conviction and 50-month prison sentence.
They filed a notice of appeal on Monday and are expected to submit the formal documents soon.
Combs was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted on two other charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Judge Arun Subramanian stated that a substantial sentence was required to send a message that the abuse of women is met with real accountability. He also imposed a $500,000 (£374,000) fine and five years of probation.
Combs had requested a 14-month sentence that would allow for his early release given the time he served awaiting trial, while prosecutors sought more than 11 years in prison.
At his sentencing hearing, Combs described his actions as disgusting, shameful, and sick, expressing remorse and apologizing to the women who testified against him.
His legal team has indicated their intention to appeal both the conviction and the judge's sentence.
Combs, arrested in September 2024, was at the center of a trial that garnered significant media scrutiny. Prosecutors accused him of utilizing his influence in the music industry to orchestrate a sex trafficking operation and coercing partners into sexual acts with male escorts.
The case prominently featured testimony from singer Cassandra Ventura, who alleged physical abuse and manipulation concerning her involvement in illicit activities, alongside another witness identified as Jane, who testified about her pressures to engage in similar encounters against her wishes.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the jury acquitted Combs on the two most severe charges while convicting him on lesser counts related to prostitution.
